Cory Martinez
IT Director and Archaeologist
B.S., Anthropology, Portland State University, 2023
Cory earned his B.S. in Anthropology with a focus in Archaeology from Portland State University in 2023. He attended Ft. Vancouver Public Field School in 2021, where he learned how to excavate and survey multicultural sites. In 2022 he took part in the Willamette Valley Historical Ecology Project (WVHEP) as lead intern. The WVHEP focused on the indigenous peoples of the valley and their relationship to the environment and water. Participating in the project’s research, fieldwork, and lab components solidified his choice to become an archaeologist with a focus in the Willamette Valley.
He started working with WillametteCRA as a field tech in 2023. During the winter of 2023-2024, Cory demonstrated his technological aptitude by building computers and taking on IT tasks around the Portland office. These technological skills and knowledge were gained through PC gaming along with some formal training in IT and Computer Science at PCC and PSU. In the spring of 2024, Cory was hired full-time as IT Director.
During his free time, he volunteers for the Willamette Valley Pleistocene Society and is the leader of a climbing crew called the Coyote Pups.
