Mai McMurdie, B.S.
Archaeologist
B.S., Anthropology: Archaeological Sciences, University of Washington, 2022
Mai finished their B.S. in Archaeology from the University of Washington in 2022, focusing their undergraduate studies on biological anthropology and coursework relevant to CRM. While in school, Mai attended and completed AWA’s first Field Technician Training program, which solidified their decision to focus the rest of their studies on Pacific Northwest archaeology and CRM as a whole.
In the summer of 2022, Mai attended two field schools. The first one excavating buried architecture on a Chimú occupied Casma site in the Nepeña Valley, Ancash, Peru. Their second one was CRM focused field school on a pre and post-WWII Japanese-American residence, farm, and community center in Seattle, Washington.
Mai started working with WillametteCRA as a field technician in the late summer of 2022 and became full-time staff spring of 2025. They have field experience doing shovel probe survey, pedestrian survey, data recovery, and archaeological monitoring projects throughout Washington and Oregon.
Mai is a member of the Association of Washington Archaeology, and their areas of interest are geoarchaeology, paleoanthropology, Pacific Northwest archaeology, and environmental restoration.
