Ike Miller, M.A.

Archaeologist

M.A., Anthropology: Archaeological Heritage, University of Washington, 2025
M.Phil., Russian and East European Studies, University of Oxford, 2021
B.A., History, University of Oregon, 2014

Ike has worked as an archaeologist in the Pacific Northwest and the northern Great Basin since 2023, following a previous career as a history teacher. Becoming an archaeologist allowed Ike to combine his love for studying the past with his passion for doing manual labor in terrible weather.

Ike first joined Willamette CRA as an intern in 2025. Later that same year, Ike completed his master’s degree in archaeological heritage at the University of Washington. His thesis examined an early-Holocene site on the Olympic Peninsula and consisted of lithic artifact analyses and an intra-site spatial analysis.

Ike has experience with every phase of archaeological fieldwork, from survey and testing to full-scale excavations. Ike is interested in the history and prehistory of the Pacific Northwest, as well as in archaeological theory, archival document analysis, and quantitative methods in archaeology.

Ike is a member of the Association of Oregon Archaeologists, the Association for Washington Archaeology, and the Oregon Historical Society. In his free time, Ike is a passionate rock climber; in 2019, he won the Oxford University Mountaineering Club’s Bravery Award.
