Mike Shimel

Mike has been working as a field archaeologist since 2006.
He has experience as a field technician, archaeological monitor, and crew leader with more than twenty cultural resource management firms and in regions spanning the continental United States.
He has experience working on many types of projects related to infrastructure, energy production, military land survey, public land survey, and natural disaster relief monitoring.
After moving to the Pacific Northwest in 2013, he has primarily worked within Oregon, Washington, Nevada, and Alaska.
Although he has been working for WillametteCRA as an on-call field technician and crew chief since shortly after moving to Oregon, he joined the team full-time in late 2018.
Mike draws on his field experience and contacts to maintain our field gear and coordinate field crew staffing.
Mike’s interests include prehistoric settlement patterns, paleoenvironments, archaeological fieldwork in general, and remote camping projects.
