Megan McGuinness, M.A.

Archaeologist

Megan was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest and got a start in archaeology by volunteering with the BLM in 2017. Prior to joining Willamette CRA, Megan worked for private firms completing surveys, recording archaeological sites, evaluation testing, damage assessments, data recovery, and monitoring in Oregon, Washington, Nevada, and Utah. She has experience with project management and working with tribes and agencies. Megan has supervised Rimrock Draw Rockshelter field school in south-central Oregon and taught lithic illustration classes.  

Megan’s areas of interest include early human land use during the terminal Pleistocene/early Holocene, lithic technology, geoarchaeology, lithic illustration, and public outreach.

Megan meets the Secretary of the Interior’s professional standards for archaeology, is a Qualified Archaeologist in the State of Oregon, is qualified by ODOT through the Agency Cultural Resources Consultant Qualification Program and is a registered professional archaeologist. Megan is a member of the Association of Oregon Archaeologists, Association for Washington Archaeology, and the Nevada Archaeological Association.

Megan loves long walks on pluvial shorelines and hanging with her dog, Howdy.
